Synopsis
Fishy Fish Fish is a dark comedy animated short film loosely based on the five stages of grief where Uno deals with the loss of his own life. Giving a spin to the original greek myth of charon, Fishy Fish Fish is Uno’s journey through the Underworld, where he will reflect on his own life, reach an agreement with himself and decide if he will indeed accept his death or end up lost on his own mind, holding onto something that is already gone.

From the Filmmaker
Fishy Fish Fish is the story about an old fisherman named Uno whose whole life has been dedicated to fishing despite his love for taxidermy. He is an artist by heart, but due to his responsibilities he cannot fully devote his time to his art. His life dream was to open up a shop where he could sell his art and become a full time artist, but his time on Earth gets cut short because of a thunderstorm.
My film talks about grief and the disappointment of one’s own choices, but it’s also about the appreciation of life and the efforts put into the things that we do. It talks about the journey; the process of doing what you love at the little time that you have whenever you can. Sometimes we’re too focused on the “big finish line”, the end of a project, the completion of our dream, that we forget about what we do in between to reach that goal.
I decided to focus on that because there are some cases where we fail to see the end of a dream. It might be difficult to continue sometimes or it’s just not in our best interest to do something at that moment, but that doesn’t mean that everything we did towards that goal was in vain nor a waste of time. I believe that everything we do is for a reason and the importance of it we put it ourselves, but for that to be true we need to be kind to ourselves.
Fishy Fish Fish is a thank you letter to yourself for keep trying and being happy with what you’ve done with your life.
"I think that theme-wise it can speak to a lot of people, specially to artists.
I made this short with the help of professors and classmates at School of the Art Institute of Chicago."
